Is OGX Strength & Body Bamboo Fiber Full Shampoo Effective?
For the past few months, I have been on a hunt for a good chemical free shampoo. That is when I came across OGX Strength & Body + Bamboo Fiber-Full Shampoo. It was exactly what I was looking for – a SLS and paraben free shampoo suitable for my fine and limp hair.
The reviews as well as the list of ingredients looked good so there was no reason for me to not click that ‘Add to Cart’ button.
OGX Strength & Body + Bamboo Fiber-Full Shampoo: Review
Let me brief you a little about the background of the company. OGX is a Florida based company that produces good quality hair care products containing exotic active ingredients. Their products are not just free from toxic chemicals like parabens and sulfates, but also aren’t tested on animals. And even their packaging is eco-friendly.
Although OGX is a drugstore brand overseas, it comes at a higher price in India. But thanks to online shopping, you can get them at a good discount.
I do not know for what reason but, I am totally smitten by the lovely emerald green coloured bottle of OGX Strength & Body + Bamboo Fiber-Full Shampoo. I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on the shampoo that came with such wonderful ingredients.
Packaging and appearance
OGX Strength & Body + Bamboo Fiber-Full Shampoo comes in a chubby emerald green coloured bottle with a golden colored flip-top cap. The rich green and gold colour used in the packaging gives it a premium look.
The bottle is quite sturdy and transparent so you can see how much of the product is left. You just need a gentle squeeze to take out the amount you need as the nozzle is quite small.
The shampoo is clear in colour.
OGX claims to have a fortifying blend of bamboo fibers and soy proteins that would plump your hair and give it more volume. The formula of the shampoo is also great for those who have fine hair- exactly what I needed.
The company claims that you will fall in love with the way your tresses looks and feels. They say that they are the pioneers in using real bamboo fibers in their hair care line. This product makes your hair thick and voluminous as the bamboo fibers get attached to your hair!
Apart from that, the company also promises that this product will leave your hair smelling fresh with a tinge of spice.

How to use?
Just like how you would use any other shampoo i.e. wet your hair and massage the shampoo on your hair and scalp and then rinse off with warm water. You can reapply if needed.
- Lively green packaging
- Lathers well
- SLS and paraben free
- Makes hair soft
- It doesn’t dry out the hair.
- Adds bounce
- Lasts long
- A lovely spicy fragrance that faints a little after the wash but stays in your hair for at least 12 hours.
- Sturdy packaging
- Doesn’t clean heavily oiled hair
- The bottle is a little chubby so not very good when you are planning to travel light.
- Conditioner is a must after this as the shampoo leaves the hair tangled.
My experience with OGX Strength & Body + Bamboo Fiber-Full Shampoo
I have used OGX Strength & Body + Bamboo Fiber-Full Shampoo for more than a month now and have a very mixed opinion about it. There are some things that I really love about it. For example, when I wash my hair with the shampoo without oiling it, the results are awesome. It gives good volume to my fine textured hair, which even others around me have clearly noticed. Personally I find the fragrance a little overpowering while in the shower but once your hair dries up it smells really amazing.
The results are totally different when I shampoo after oiling my hair. As I am suffering from hairfall, I make it a point to regularly oil my hair. I have tried this routine four to five times with OGX Strength & Body + Bamboo Fiber-Full Shampoo but, every time I had the same result. My scalp would remain oily and after drying up my hair would look dull and unwashed.
So, now I only use it when I haven’t oiled my hair. For some reason it just doesn’t work with my oiled hair, it could be because of the hair oil as it is home made and slightly thicker.
I haven’t tried it with any other hair oil, maybe it would give a better result with lighter ones.
Now coming to the thickness part, the shampoo definitely adds volume but I haven’t used it in conjunction with the other products in this collection like the thickening fiber cream and the thickening root booster. I am guessing, if used together and on a regular basis they might make the hair strands thicker.
I have used the conditioner from this collection, which I will review next.
Will I recommend OGX Strength & Body + Bamboo Fiber-Full Shampoo?
I would say you can definitely give this variant a try if your hair is fine in texture and lacks bounce because it really gives a good lift to the tresses. If you want something else from your shampoo, then maybe you can take a look some of the other variants that OGX has.
Where to buy?
OGX shampoos are easily available online. You can buy them from any of the online shopping websites like Nykaa, Flipkart or Amazon at a good discount. When I ordered from Flipkart sometime back I got it for 15% less the market price.
MR’s suggestion to the brand
It would be great if OGX could also make this collection available in small sized packs so it fits better in travel cases.
I really loved the shampoo so I’m giving it an overall rating of 4 on 5. I am deducting one point for the way it behaves when I have applied oil.
Have you used OGX Strength & Body + Bamboo Fiber-Full Shampoo or any other shampoo from the brand? What was your experience? Don’t forget to comment even if it’s a question you want to ask, we would always be happy to help you.
